"GOD DAMNIT BOY! DON'T PLAY WITH THE INTERMIX LEVEL!" Odan slide down a later and pushed an ensign aside. He punched in an emergency shutdown and the warp core to go dark. "Are you trying to blow every injector?" Odan was not in the mood for these types of mistakes. He had to make sure the New Orleans was ready for departure in 48 hours.
The young ensign looked at Odan worried, "Sorry sir, just thought should start the power up procedure on the warp engine as the captain requested." The young man was nervous; he did not realize that it was not wise to mess with a chief engineer’s engine without orders.
"Listen lad. If the ship is not in danger of being destroyed, you always clear major changes to the engines. And just so you know, the warp drive is not ready for powering up. We only got five of the ten injectors functioning above 85 percent. If you had changed those intermix levels you would have blown those five." Odan could not believe this; he was talking to a graduate as if he was still a student. "Why don't you go help Ensign Graver install the new number seven injector?”
Odan left the ensign and headed back to work on the warp drive. He had contributed a little to the design of this engine, but he kept finding flaws in it. If it was not the warp field emitters it was the delthum chamber. Even worse it was not just the warp drive, it was the entire ship. All he could assume was that monkeys had put the ship together.

Kayen Storm stood aboard San Francisco Fleet Yards as he looked at the beautiful ship that he had been given command of. He smiled softly as he walked across the boarding tube, whispering softly "I'll make you proud dad..." Once he was in the ship, Kayen straightened his uniform and headed for the bridge. He quickly walked over to his seat and waved off the attention of the crewmen.
As he sat down, Kayen pressed the button to hail Engineering. "Storm to Engineering, how's it coming Chief?"

Odan pulled out his communicator and flipped it open. "Would you prefer the full story or just the condensed none engineering story." Odan looked around as one of the teams removed injector number 8. They were working as fast as they could, but Odan knew they would be leaving space dock without everything one hundred percent. All he could hope for was that the warp core did not exploded and kill them all at this point.
Meanwhile Elizabeth stood on the transporter pad at Starfleet headquarters. Most of her personal items had already been transferred aboard on the last personal cargo transfer, so all she had with her was her Starfleet duffle and a locked metal case. Then the transporter powered up and she was transferred to the USS New Orleans transporter room one, which was near the bridge. She looked at the transporter operator "Has the captain arrived yet?" she said politely.
The operator looked her up and down, and then noticed the commander strips on her wrist. "Yes ma'am. I think her was on the bridge. Would you like me to check?" His voice was a little disappointed, but his emotions told her that he felt like an idiot. This is most likely due to the fact of that he just checked out his superior officer in such obvious way.
Elizabeth smiled softly, "That will not be necessary Ensign. I well just go check it out for myself. I want to the bridge anyways." She walked out of the transporter room carrying her two bags and made her way to the bridge. She walked over to the turbo lift and picked the bridge.
Once the doors open, she was several decks higher looking out at the bridge. She looked out over the bridge and noticed the captain setting in his chair. She put down the bags just outside of the door. She then walked over. "Greetings Captain. Commander Sweetwater. Your SO and helmsman." Elizabeth continue to read his emotions, she found that a person's emotions during the first meetings said a lot about them.

Kayen chuckled slightly at the Engineer's question and then he answered "I just want to know when we can launch. I'd like to get out of here ASAP." When Elizabeth entered, Kayen turned towards her and she could immediately feel his attraction to her. He swallowed nervously and then he nodded to her. "Welcome aboard! I'm Captain Storm but I think you knew that, you look like you've done your homework."

The old Andorian's voice came back over the communication device. "I was told to have this ship out of space dock in 48 hours and by god if I need to hire a tug, we will depart by that deadline. Just do not expect all the doors to close by then. I got three year of work done by monkeys that did not know the difference between a stem bolt and a bolt board." There was a slight paused followed by a deep yell. "GOD DAMNIT ENSIGN! DISCONNENT THE RELAYS BEFORE TOUCHING THAT! Excuse me sir, got to make sure these nuggets do not blow up the ship." The communication channel was closed and Odan when back to running from station to station getting the engines ready for the maiden voyage.
Elizabeth meanwhile put her hand on her hip and looked at the captain. "You will soon learn there is no point in keeping secrets from me captain. I am not sure if you did your homework, but I am half betaziod." Elizabeth leaned in close and whispered into his ear softly, "I can feel your emotions better then you can." Elizabeth leaned back out again and smiled. "I think I will take the rest of my equipment to my quarters. If you have need for a pilot I can be found there until my first duty shift." Elizabeth picked up her case and started to head for the turbolift. She realized that it was getting close to time that she took her suppression medicine.

Kayen blushed brightly and then he shook his head as he whispered "if this is your idea of a joke dad, I'm not laughing!" He sighed and then he started to read through the files and see how many of the crew were missing. When he did that, he leaned back in his chair and shut his eyes. After a few minutes he stood up and took the turbolift to his quarters deck and went into his quarters. They were right across the hall from Elizabeth's.

Odan was once again standing over the control station for the warp reactor. He looked around at the engineers around him, mostly ensigns. "Okay, I want to make sure everything is in place before we fire this puppy up. So give me conformation of that an assignment was completed when it is called." Odan paused for a moment then started to list off different aspects of the warp drive which needed to be fixed. These included replacing injectors, checking power relays, aligning the matter and antimatter containment fields, having double checked the intermix ratios, aligned the dilithum matrix, and insured that the plasma regulators were all functioning normally.
After the check list was completed Odan smiled. "Lets kicked the tires and light the fires. Activating the warp core." Odan punched in his command code and watched as the power bar filled slowly. It would take an hour for the warp drive to become fully activated at standard startup rate. He called over an ensign to watch the readings and call him if any went astray. He then headed to transporter room two to see what the problem they were having.
Meanwhile Elizabethan had arrived to her quarters. She was lucky that she was a command officers, she did not need to share. She opened the door and walked in. Looking over the room, it was not very large, but it did not have to be. It had a closet, her bunk, a small desk and a small bathroom attached. In the center of the room was her personal affects which had been sent earlier.
The first thing Elizabeth did however was place the metal case she was carrying on the desk and open it up. Inside was hundreds of small green vials a for injection devices. She took one of the viles and placed it in the rear of the device. She then placed it up to her neck and injected the medicine into her body. Within a few seconds she was laying on her bed with the room completely black. Her weekly injections caused temporary sensitivity to light and even worst temporary loss of equilibrium. If she was not lying down she would fall over, it was like being really drunk. It meant that after each injection of pheromone suppressers she had was incapacitated for anywhere from an half an hour to two hours. She wondered what the captain would say if he seen his helmsman in this condition.

Kayen looked around his quarters and then he sat at the desk slowly. As he sat down, he picked up his PADD and started to go through the crew files until he found Elizabeth's and he started to read it.

Ash usual, I'm late, even for this posting. Not a very good first impression. I need to learn not to sleep with women the night before heading off.
Ash frowned slightly, then busted up laughing. He couldn't help but do what he does, and it was some good loving. He sped around the corner at a dead sprint, trying not to be later than he had to be. He nearly ran over a couple of crewmen and an ensign, but dodged and hit a wall instead. That sent him spinning and he nearly lost his bags, or their contents.
He stopped for a second, checking the straps holding his old-style katana's to one of his bags, then sprinted the last 200 feet to the nearest transporter room. He arrived slightly out of breath. Once again, martial arts saved him.
OK, im finally here. Send me off to the New Orleans. Yes, sir, but it may be a second, we are having some trouble. Its fine, just don't shred me into a million pieces.
Ash laughed and stood on the transporter. The worker tapped quickly, getting a lock on the ship. After about a minute, static electricity sizzled around Ash and he was transported to the New Orleans. He made on board without much effort, but he didn't get a good look at the people around until he dropped his bag, spilling some items on the ground.
Better late than never, but at least im here. Someone tell the Captain that his XO is on board, and I need a com badge replicated, if someone doesn't mind getting that for me.
Ash was on a knee, picking up his material possessions. It wasn't much, but it distracted him from looking at everyone. Though he outranked everyone, he didn't want to meet anyone's eyes. [/sub]

After a few seconds Kayen's comm. buzzed and he opened it quickly. He was told that his XO had arrived and stood up. He picked up the XO's PADD from his desk and then he headed for the transporter room and walked inside. "Commander Akitsuki? Welcome aboard!"

Elizabeth leaned over and turned on the blue light of her room, allowing her eyes to adjust to the light. As the adjusted, she found that she was not to sensitive to light anymore. She then slowly made her way out of the bed and stood up. She wobbled around a little bit, to her the room was spinning. She closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths. "I guest it will be a little longer then an half an hour today." The cause of the symptoms was a collection of the complex enzyme which collected in other organs. He immune system had to break it down, as it would with the enzyme in the organs it did not belong in, but it took time. When Elizabeth open her eyes, the room had settled down greatly she slowly walked out. It always seemed to help if she walked around and got her blood pumping. She figured she walk to the transporter room, then up to the bridge and end at the galley.
As she walked into the transporter room she once again noticed the captain and this time with the first officer. His stuff was on spread across the floor. She calmly walked over to him and leaned down, helping him collect his stuff. She was monitoring his emotions along with the captain's; wanting to understand what made her fellow officers tick. “I am Commander Elizabeth Sweetwater, second officer and helmsman. Good to have our executive officer onboard.” She said after the captain welcomed him onboard.

Good to be on board, Captain. Oh, why thanks for the help. Commander Ash Akiskui, for both of you. First officer and ace in tactics and security.
He collected the rest of his possessions off the ground, stowed them, and took what was his from the women who helped him out, and stowed them too. He stood up fully after zipping up his bag, and saluted Kayen, then shook the man's hand. He felt at ease, relaxed, and even happy to be on board.
[/b]So, when do we launch, Captain? It itching to get this thing into space.... when your ready.[/b] There he went again, talking without thinking. That was about his only problem, but it could be controlled. He just didn't want to control how he was around the crew. He was how he was, and that was the end of that.[/center][/sub]

Doc Beckett stepped up on the transporter pad of Starbase 1 in orbit around earth. He was due to transport to the New Orleans and was running late. He didn't have much stuff. his uniforms and some clothing were squared away in a backpack and a single rolling suitcase beside him.
His hair was disheveled and he hadn't gotten much sleep the night before. He was worried and stressing over his new responsibilities as Chief medical officer and being late for his first day of duty wasn't helping.
He tensed as he felt the transporter take hold of him and suddenly he found himself in one of the transporter rooms on what he assumed was the New Orleans.

Kayen smiled as he nodded to Ash and then he turned his head to glance at Elizabeth. Thankfully he was distracted by the doctor arriving and he turned to greet him. "welcome aboard Doctor Beckett"

"aye, it's good to be a board." Doc said as the transporter finally let go of him and he felt himself again. He wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea of being reduced to atoms, moved, and then reassembled on the other side, but he knew it was foolish to worry. Medical journals have told of the safety of transporters for the passed 20 years.
After looking at his greeter he realized it was the Captain. Doc straitened up a little and his smile left him. "Ah, please Captain, only my patients call me Doctor Beckett. Friends call me Doc. I apologize for being a wee bit late but i'm afraid sleep and nervousness didn't mix well last night."
